IFPAS Singapore has also crossed borders
to collaborate with the Life Underwriters Associations
in the Asia Pacific countries. The idea of an Asia Pacific
Financial Services Association (APFinSA), formerly known
as Asia Pacific Life Insurance Council (APLIC), was first
mooted in the early nineties.
In August 1997, APFinSA member countries Australia, Hong
Kong, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore
and Thailand signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work
towards a successful partnership in the Asia Pacific region.
The objectives of the APFinSA includes
promoting professional fraternity among life insurance
practitioners, enhancing and encouraging education, cooperation
and exchange of sales ideas and enhancing legislative,
social, economic and industry changes affecting life insurance
in the Asia Pacific region.
IFPAS Singapore is proud to have played
a key role in the establishment of the APFinSA as well
as for hosting the 1st Asia Pacific Life Insurance Congress
in 1991 and 1st APLIC Agency Management Conference in
1995. Since then, the Asia Pacific Life Insurance Congress
and APLIC Agency Management Conference have been held
in alternate years.
The Objectives of APFinSA are:
